Alerts
Three emails that do not wait for the close. Each has its own switch under Settings → Notifications (opens in a new tab), and all three are on by default.
Bulk send submitted
Arrives when: you release a batch of signals in Order Management.
Says: how many were submitted, how many were skipped, how many failed, the total notional, and the first five orders with symbol, side, quantity and limit price.
Asks of you: nothing. It is a receipt. If the numbers do not match what you expected — a skipped count you cannot explain — Order Management has the reason per row.
Order failed
Arrives when: an individual order was refused.
Says: which symbol, which side, which strategy, which account, and the reason.
Asks of you: a decision. A refused order is not retried on its own. Common reasons and what they mean:
| What it says | What happened |
|---|---|
| Not enough funds | Your buying power did not cover the order at the calculated size. |
| A refusal from Trader Workstation | IBKR itself declined it. The reason is passed through, translated where we have seen it before. |
| Size drifted too far | The Bridge recomputes the quantity against your live account value. If it differs from the server's figure by more than 5%, the order is refused rather than sent at the wrong size. Release it again and it recalculates. |
Bridge offline
Arrives when: your Bridge stopped reporting during trading hours.
Orders already at your broker keep running. This is the first thing the email says, and it is the reason it is worded carefully: "your Bridge is offline" reads to most people as "my orders are gone". Someone who believes that goes into Trader Workstation and places the order again — and ends up with the position twice.
Nothing was withdrawn. What stopped is the sending of new orders and the reporting back of results.
Says: which of the two connections broke — your machine to Ordertune, or your machine to Trader Workstation. They have different causes and different fixes.
Asks of you: get it running again. Start with Troubleshooting.
Until a heartbeat arrives, the Broker tab shows Not reporting and no release will go through.
Everything else
Password changes, email verification, data exports, account deletion and support replies are sent regardless of these switches. They are not reports — they are confirmations that something happened to your account, and turning those off would be a security problem rather than a preference.
